Aura Bean Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 1 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”, “Agreement”) govern your use of the Aura Bean website, online store, products, services and related offerings.
The website is operated by Aura Bean (Pty) Ltd (“Aura Bean”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By accessing or using the Aura Bean website, creating an account, placing an order, purchasing a product or booking a service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
These Terms must be read together with our Refund and Returns Policy and Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any consumer right or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
1. About Aura Bean
Aura Bean is a South African coffee roastery and coffee equipment, training and services business.
Our products and services may include, but are not limited to:
- roasted coffee;
- whole-bean and ground coffee;
- coffee blends and single-origin coffees;
- coffee equipment;
- espresso machines;
- coffee grinders;
- manual brewing equipment;
- barista equipment and accessories;
- coffee-related products;
- coffee training;
- consultations;
- equipment installation and calibration;
- technical services;
- coffee development and roasting services; and
- other products and services made available through the Aura Bean website.
We roast coffee in controlled small-batch production environments and, where applicable, roast coffee after an order has been placed to maintain freshness.
2. Use of the Website
The Aura Bean website may be used for legitimate browsing, purchasing, account management, communication and other lawful purposes.
You agree not to use the website:
- for fraudulent purposes;
- to make speculative or false purchases;
- to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- to attempt unauthorised access to the website, server or associated systems;
- to introduce malicious software or code;
- to collect information about other users without authorisation;
- to reproduce or misuse website content;
- to impersonate Aura Bean or another person or organisation; or
- for any purpose prohibited by applicable law.
Aura Bean reserves the right to restrict, suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe that the website is being misused or these Terms have been breached.
3. Website Content and Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information published on the website is accurate and current.
However, product descriptions, photographs, specifications, prices, availability and other information may occasionally contain errors or may become outdated.
Product photographs are provided for illustrative purposes. Actual products may differ slightly in colour, packaging, finish or appearance due to manufacturing changes, photography, screen settings or supplier updates.
Where an obvious pricing, description or availability error occurs, Aura Bean reserves the right to correct the error.
If an order has been affected by a material error, Aura Bean will contact the customer and provide the appropriate options available under applicable law.
4. Product Availability
Product availability is not guaranteed until an order has been accepted and payment has been validated or received.
Coffee is generally roasted to order to maintain freshness.
For coffee orders, roasting and dispatch will generally take place after payment has been validated or received.
Standard coffee production may require approximately three working days before dispatch, depending on the order size and production schedule.
Large, customised or commercial orders may require additional production time.
For products held in stock, orders will generally be processed for dispatch within approximately two working days after payment has been validated.
These are estimated processing times and do not constitute guaranteed delivery dates unless Aura Bean has expressly agreed to a specific delivery commitment in writing.
5. Special Orders and Custom Products
Certain products or services may be ordered, prepared, configured, customised or sourced specifically for a customer.
These may include:
- specially sourced equipment;
- custom coffee blends;
- customer-specific roast profiles;
- customised coffee grinding;
- personalised products;
- special-order equipment;
- imported products;
- equipment modifications;
- custom technical work; and
- other products or services specifically prepared at the customer’s request.
Once Aura Bean has committed resources, placed supplier orders or commenced preparation of a custom order, cancellation may be subject to the applicable terms agreed with the customer and applicable consumer law.
Custom or special-order products are not automatically eligible for discretionary cancellation or return merely because the customer changes their mind.
Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
6. Orders
An order submitted through the website constitutes a request to purchase the selected products.
An order is only accepted once Aura Bean has confirmed the order and payment has been successfully validated or received, unless otherwise agreed.
Aura Bean reserves the right to decline or cancel an order where:
- the product is unavailable;
- there is an obvious pricing or product-description error;
- payment cannot be validated;
- fraudulent activity is suspected;
- the requested quantity cannot reasonably be supplied;
- the order contains materially incorrect information; or
- circumstances outside Aura Bean’s reasonable control prevent fulfilment.
Where an order is cancelled by Aura Bean and payment has already been received, any applicable refund will be processed in accordance with applicable law.
7. Pricing
All prices displayed on the Aura Bean website are in South African Rand (ZAR) unless otherwise stated.
Prices may include or exclude VAT depending on how the price is displayed.
Where VAT is applicable, the applicable VAT amount will be reflected during checkout or on the relevant invoice.
Product prices may change at any time.
The price applicable to an accepted order will be the price confirmed at the time of purchase, subject to correction of obvious errors.
Shipping and delivery charges may be charged separately and will be displayed during checkout where applicable.
8. Payment
Aura Bean accepts the payment methods made available during checkout.
Payment must be successfully authorised or received before an order is processed unless Aura Bean has agreed to alternative payment terms in writing.
Aura Bean may use third-party payment processors and payment gateways to process online payments.
Aura Bean does not ordinarily have access to customers’ full card credentials.
Payment processing remains subject to the terms and security procedures of the applicable payment provider.
9. Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)
Where EFT is offered as a payment method, orders will only be processed once the funds have cleared into the Aura Bean bank account.
Customers must use the correct payment reference supplied with the order.
Aura Bean is not responsible for delays caused by incorrect banking information, incorrect payment references, bank processing times or payments made into an incorrect account.
Banking details provided at checkout, on an invoice or through an official Aura Bean communication should be verified before payment.
Customers should contact Aura Bean if there is any uncertainty regarding banking details.
10. Shipping and Delivery
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information when placing an order.
Aura Bean cannot be held responsible for delivery delays or failed deliveries caused by:
- an incorrect address;
- an incomplete address;
- incorrect contact details;
- failure to respond to courier communications;
- failure to accept delivery;
- refusal of delivery; or
- other circumstances attributable to the customer.
Delivery times are estimates provided by the applicable courier or logistics provider.
Courier delays may occur because of weather, operational disruptions, regional restrictions, peak periods, strikes, technical problems or other circumstances outside Aura Bean’s reasonable control.
Where a courier delay occurs, Aura Bean will assist with the relevant investigation where reasonably possible.
11. Delivery Risk and Damage
The customer should inspect products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If a product arrives damaged, the customer should contact Aura Bean promptly and provide photographs of the product and packaging where possible.
Customers should retain the original packaging until Aura Bean has completed its assessment or provided further instructions.
Where applicable law places responsibility or risk on Aura Bean, nothing in these Terms is intended to transfer that responsibility unlawfully to the customer.
12. Failed or Returned Deliveries
If a courier is unable to deliver an order because of incorrect customer information, refusal of delivery, failure to accept delivery or another circumstance attributable to the customer, the parcel may be returned to Aura Bean.
Aura Bean will contact the customer where reasonably possible to arrange the next step.
Additional delivery charges may apply where re-delivery is required because of circumstances attributable to the customer, subject to applicable law.
13. Refunds and Returns
Refunds, returns and exchanges are governed by the Aura Bean Refund and Returns Policy.
The Refund and Returns Policy forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
The policy distinguishes between:
- change-of-mind returns;
- defective goods;
- damaged goods;
- incorrectly supplied goods;
- customer-specified products;
- coffee and other consumable products;
- special-order products;
- warranty claims; and
- statutory consumer remedies.
Nothing in the Refund and Returns Policy or these Terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable legislation.
14. Coffee Products
Coffee is a consumable product and is generally roasted and packed for freshness.
Coffee may vary naturally between:
- harvests;
- lots;
- origins;
- processing methods;
- roast batches; and
- production periods.
Natural variation in flavour, aroma, acidity, body or appearance does not automatically constitute a product defect.
Coffee that has been correctly supplied according to the customer’s order is not ordinarily eligible for a discretionary change-of-mind return.
Coffee ground to a customer-specified grind is prepared specifically according to the customer’s instructions and is not ordinarily eligible for discretionary return.
This does not affect statutory rights relating to defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or non-conforming goods.
15. Coffee Freshness and Storage
Once coffee has been delivered, the customer is responsible for storing it appropriately.
Coffee should generally be stored:
- sealed;
- in a cool and dry environment;
- away from direct sunlight;
- away from excessive heat and moisture; and
- away from strong odours.
Coffee should not be stored in conditions that may compromise its quality or safety.
Where a customer believes that coffee has a quality or safety issue, the customer should stop using the product and contact Aura Bean.
16. Equipment Products
Equipment sold by Aura Bean may be supplied with manufacturer warranties, distributor warranties or statutory consumer protections.
Equipment may include:
- espresso machines;
- grinders;
- automatic coffee machines;
- brewing equipment;
- electrical equipment;
- accessories; and
- other technical products.
Product specifications may change as manufacturers update their products.
Where applicable, manufacturer warranty procedures may require inspection, testing or assessment by Aura Bean, the manufacturer or an authorised service centre.
Nothing in these Terms removes any statutory consumer rights.
17. Equipment Installation and Modifications
Where Aura Bean provides installation, calibration, modification or technical services, the scope of work will be determined by the quotation, invoice or written agreement applicable to the service.
Customers must disclose relevant information about the equipment before work begins.
Aura Bean must be informed of known:
- electrical issues;
- plumbing issues;
- previous modifications;
- faults;
- damage;
- unauthorised repairs;
- non-standard components; and
- other conditions that may affect the work.
Additional work outside the agreed scope may require additional charges.
Where a modification could affect a manufacturer’s warranty, the customer will be informed where reasonably possible.
18. Professional Services and Consultations
Consultations, training, technical services, coffee development, equipment installation and other professional services may be subject to separate quotations, booking terms or service agreements.
A booking is considered confirmed once the applicable booking requirements and payment terms have been satisfied.
Cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms for professional services may be specified in the relevant quotation or booking confirmation.
Where no separate terms are provided, these Terms & Conditions apply.
19. Intellectual Property
All original content published on the Aura Bean website, including but not limited to:
- logos;
- trademarks;
- photographs;
- graphics;
- product descriptions;
- written content;
- training materials;
- recipes;
- documents;
- designs;
- branding;
- illustrations;
- videos; and
- other original materials

No content may be reproduced, modified, distributed, sold, republished or commercially exploited without prior written permission from Aura Bean or the applicable rights holder.
Normal linking to Aura Bean’s website is permitted provided that the link does not imply endorsement, affiliation or ownership where none exists.
20. Aura Bean Branding and Packaging
Aura Bean trademarks, logos, packaging designs, artwork, labels and other brand assets remain the property of Aura Bean or their respective rights holders.
They may not be copied, reproduced, modified or commercially used without prior written permission.
This includes reproducing Aura Bean packaging or artwork for another product, business or commercial purpose.
21. User-Generated Content
Where the website permits customers to submit reviews, comments, photographs or other content, users must ensure that submitted material:
- is truthful;
- does not infringe another person’s rights;
- does not contain malicious software;
- is not defamatory;
- is not unlawful;
- is not misleading;
- does not contain spam or unsolicited advertising; and
- does not violate the rights of third parties.
Aura Bean reserves the right to moderate or remove content that violates these requirements.
22. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Aura Bean website may contain links to third-party websites, manufacturers, payment providers, couriers, service providers or other external resources.
Aura Bean does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or terms.
Where a transaction is processed through a third-party provider, that provider’s applicable terms may also apply.
23. Privacy
Aura Bean processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable South African data-protection legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Personal information will not be sold to third parties.
Personal information may be shared with service providers where reasonably necessary to provide products or services, including payment processors, couriers, hosting providers, IT providers and other operational service providers.
Customers should refer to the Aura Bean Privacy Policy for further information regarding the collection and processing of personal information.
24. Cookies and Website Technology
The website may use cookies, analytics tools and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, improve functionality, analyse usage and support security.
Certain cookies may be provided by third-party services.
The use of cookies is subject to the Aura Bean Privacy Policy and applicable law.
25. Website Availability
Aura Bean makes reasonable efforts to keep the website available and operational.
However, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
The website may occasionally be unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- software updates;
- hosting issues;
- technical failures;
- security incidents;
- telecommunications failures;
- power interruptions;
- third-party service interruptions; or
- circumstances outside Aura Bean’s reasonable control.
Aura Bean will make reasonable efforts to restore services where practical.
26. Errors and Website Security
Although reasonable measures are taken to maintain website security, no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Customers should not attempt to interfere with, compromise or gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems.
If a customer identifies a potential security vulnerability or suspicious activity affecting the Aura Bean website, they should report it to Aura Bean promptly.
27. Force Majeure
Aura Bean will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control.
These may include:
- natural disasters;
- severe weather;
- fire;
- flood;
- power failures;
- internet or telecommunications failures;
- courier disruptions;
- strikes;
- labour disputes;
- government restrictions;
- import or export restrictions;
- supplier failures;
- shortages;
- war;
- civil unrest;
- pandemics;
- cyber incidents; or
- other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Where such circumstances affect an order or service, Aura Bean will make reasonable efforts to notify the affected customer and provide an updated delivery or fulfilment estimate.
28. Product Safety
Customers must use products in accordance with applicable manufacturer instructions, safety instructions and reasonable operating procedures.
This is particularly important for:
- electrical equipment;
- espresso machines;
- grinders;
- heating equipment;
- pressurised equipment;
- commercial equipment; and
- products requiring installation or technical servicing.
Customers must not modify or use equipment in a manner contrary to manufacturer instructions where doing so may create a safety risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for matters that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
29. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Aura Bean will not be liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses arising from the use of the website or products where such liability may lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited;
- fraud;
- gross negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded;
- defective or unsafe goods where the law imposes liability;
- breach of statutory consumer rights; or
- any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
30. Consumer Protection
Aura Bean supports the rights and protections afforded to consumers under applicable South African consumer-protection legislation.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to:
- waive statutory consumer rights;
- exclude a statutory warranty;
- prevent a consumer from exercising a lawful cancellation right;
- exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded; or
- create an unfair or prohibited contractual term.
Where a mandatory provision of South African law applies, that provision will take precedence over any inconsistent provision of these Terms.
31. Electronic Transactions
Orders placed through the Aura Bean website are electronic transactions.
Customers are responsible for reviewing their order before completing checkout and should verify:
- product;
- quantity;
- variant;
- grind selection;
- delivery address;
- contact information;
- pricing;
- shipping charges; and
- payment method.
Aura Bean will provide reasonable electronic confirmation of accepted orders.
Applicable rights and obligations under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and other relevant legislation remain unaffected.
32. International Orders
Aura Bean primarily supplies customers within South Africa.
Customers outside South Africa should contact Aura Bean before placing an international order.
International orders may be subject to:
- additional shipping charges;
- customs duties;
- import taxes;
- customs clearance fees;
- local regulatory requirements;
- restrictions on specific products; and
- longer delivery times.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the customer is responsible for applicable import duties, taxes and customs charges.
Aura Bean cannot guarantee that a particular product may legally be imported into a particular jurisdiction.
33. Export and Import Restrictions
Certain products may be subject to export, import, customs or regulatory restrictions.
Aura Bean reserves the right to decline an international order where fulfilment would create unreasonable legal, regulatory or logistical difficulties.
34. Fraud Prevention
Aura Bean may conduct reasonable checks to protect customers and Aura Bean against fraudulent transactions.
An order may be delayed, reviewed or cancelled where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud or unauthorised payment activity.
Where payment has already been received and the order cannot be fulfilled, any applicable refund will be processed in accordance with applicable law.
35. Accounts and Passwords
Where the website permits customers to create accounts, customers are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.
Customers must notify Aura Bean if they reasonably suspect that their account has been compromised.
Aura Bean is not responsible for losses caused by a customer’s failure to maintain appropriate account security, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
36. Changes to These Terms
Aura Bean may update these Terms from time to time to reflect:
- changes to our products or services;
- website changes;
- operational changes;
- legal or regulatory requirements;
- security requirements; or
- other legitimate business requirements.
The updated Terms will be published on the website with the applicable effective date.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that have already accrued to a consumer under applicable law.
Your continued use of the website after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
37. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it lawful where legally possible.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
38. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the relevant order confirmation, quotation, service agreement, Refund and Returns Policy, Privacy Policy and any other product-specific terms expressly incorporated into the transaction, constitute the applicable agreement between Aura Bean and the customer.
Where a specific written quotation or agreement has been accepted for a particular service or commercial transaction, that document will apply to the extent that it specifically governs the relevant transaction.
39. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any dispute will be dealt with in accordance with applicable South African law and any applicable statutory dispute-resolution mechanisms.
Nothing in this clause prevents a consumer from exercising a right to approach a competent regulatory body, tribunal, court or other dispute-resolution mechanism available to that consumer under applicable law.
